Happy May, all!

I’ve been a bit quiet online lately because I’ve been working on so many fun (and not so fun) things behind the scenes. I cannot wait to be able to talk about some of them soon!

Title Reveal Coming:

As many of you know, I announced the upcoming publication of my debut novel a few months ago. Up until now, the book’s title has been a secret and I’ve merely referred to it as “Mad Max meets Vampire Court.” I’m so excited to be announcing the official title this week! The Business of Books:

Long ago, when I first considered indie publishing, I was told that the business side of things would be like running a full-time company. Truly, this was not at all an exaggeration. Over the past few months, I’ve been very busy finalizing the book’s synopsis, working on edits, working with cover and map designers, commissioning artists, and researching fun promotional things.

As much work as this is, I am absolutely ADORING it. I have no regrets about deciding to self-publish. The creative control alone is very precious to me, and the indie community has been so welcoming. I get teary-eyed thinking of all the authors, readers, and reviewers who have reached out to express an interest in reading my book. I never thought I’d be in a place where I would see my words out in the world, so the support means everything to me.

Hard-Won Victories:

I used to speak a lot online about my personal struggles—especially health struggles. I’m a lot less vocal about them now, but I’ve been thinking a lot about how life’s battles can leave a mark—in your skin, your bones, your health, your peace. Even when you’ve told yourself you’re fine in a hundred different ways, you’re eventually forced to confront these battles—sometimes in a way that is messy and real and raw.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I have found that my experiences (with illness, trauma, all of it) have added a layer of humanity to my book that was not there before. I have always found comfort in writing about how trauma lives in people and places, and I think this book is my best representation of that yet.

If you happen to like action-packed thrill rides, gritty settings, steamy hatemance, illness rep, and trauma-fueled revenge plots, then it might be the book for you!
